Jeff's Morris Township Committee
Accomplishments
During my first term on the Township Committee from 2007-2009...
 |
- Increased debate & discussion at Township meetings
- Our meetings are now open forums for residents to come -- and be listened to
- As a member of Planning Board, making sure that resident concerns are addressed by every developer
- Member of the team that created Morris Township's first "Trails and pathways plan"
- Proactive on sharing services -- leading the effort to study shared fire department services (as fire commissioner)
- Increased attention to complaints about speeding and pedestrian safety
- Increased traffic enforcement by police department, including dedicated "traffic safety unit"
-
Morris Township has introduced increased recycling efforts: we now recycle both electronic and full range of plastics -- saves taxpayer $$$
- Reduction in operating cost of Fire Department
- Increased attention to building maintenance complaints
- First ever public budget work session
- Providing voice for the need to broadcast Committee meetings
- Providing a forum for discussion of pedestrian issues and side walk policy
- Urging enforcement of tree plans during development and of tree ordinance to guide homesteaders
- Brought balance and openness after 35 years of 5-0 votes and closed-group rule
- Increased public debate and participation
- Forced the first ever public Q&A of the proposed $32MM budget
- Fighting for an inclusive and open volunteer appointment process
